| Event Description: |
Join us for the 20th annual Veterans Day Commemoration at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Mayor W. J. "Jim" Lane will officiate during thi special occasion, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the dedication of the restored French Merci Boxcar, a symbol of Europe's gratitude to the United States following World War II. The program will feature remarks from U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell, Arizona Assistant Adjutant General Matthew Brown, former Maricopa County Supervisor Jim Bruner, former Honorary French Consul Claude Prosnier and Scottsdale youth. A biography of the late Zina Kuhn, the citizen who initiated Scottsdale's annual Veterans Day salute, will be introduced. The 108th Army Band begins patriotic music at 3 p.m. Ceremonies begin at 3:30.
