McDowell Corridor Revitalization
In April of 2009, Mayor Lane convened an economic development summit for the McDowell Road corridor and south Scottsdale at which several hundred attendees discussed ideas for reviving south Scottsdale commercial districts.
On May 5, 2009 the Scottsdale City Council adopted resolution 7959 establishing a McDowell Corridor/South Scottsdale Economic Development Task Force. The Task Force was charged with studying the McDowell corridor/South Scottsdale area and determining how it should be marketed as a place to live and work. The Task Force was also to serve as a tool for marketing the area to those considering it as a place to locate businesses, invest in new developments or revitalize existing properties.
After a series of public meetings over six months, the Task Force delivered its recommendations to the City Council on February 9, 2010. The City Council accepted the Task Force recommendations and directed staff to form a cross-departmental team to implement the recommendations and make progress reports quarterly. On
July 7, 2010 the City Council accepted staff’s work plan of implementation activities.

Scottsdale Road).
