Thomas Road Streetscape

Streetscape RenderingThe City of Scottsdale is currently moving forward with the design of a series of roadway improvements for Thomas Road between 73rd Street and the Indian Bend Wash Bridge.

The proposed improvements include bicycle lanes, sidewalk improvements and landscaping, but do not add additional lanes to Thomas Road.

The planned landscaping will be colorful and conservation friendly.  Landscaped medians will provide an attractive focal point while also improving traffic control.  Pedestrian lighting will also be included to provide enhanced safety.

At the last public meeting, artist Stacy Levy presented the proposal Swale, colorful sculptural bouquets of tall grass and seed pods, an artwork for the Thomas Road Bridge at Indian Bend Wash. The proposal was approved by the Scottsdale Public Art Board in February, 2011.

Construction plans are now being finalized.  Utility relocation work is scheduled to begin in early 2013.
