Project Overview

Project Rendering
The City of Scottsdale's Pima Road Improvements Project (Deer Valley Road to
Pinnacle Peak Road) is currently in the final stages of design.  The project team has met with stakeholder organizations along the corridor to discuss the project and provide an opportunity for input which may be incorporated into the design.  In addition, a project open house was held on December 9th, where approximately 35 individuals joined us to learn more about the project.

Improvements to Pima Road, from the Deer Valley alignment to Pinnacle Peak Road, are planned to improve traffic flow, provide added safety for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, reduce travel delay times at intersections, and provide bike lanes, a multi-use path and an unpaved trail.

Conceptual Rendering 2When complete, Pima Road will consist of six lanes (three southbound and three northbound) with a landscaped median from the Deer Valley alignment to Pinnacle Peak Road.  This will include widening the road through the Pinnacle Peak Road intersection to its ultimate configuration.  The project also will include drainage improvements, non-motorized multi-use trails, and a public art element in the design.

Achen-Gardner Engineering has been selected as the contractor for this project, with work scheduled to begin in February 2010 and tentatively scheduled to be completed by June 2011.
