North Scottsdale Road Improvements
Thompson Peak Parkway to Pinnacle Peak Road
The City of Scottsdale is in the process of planning for future improvements to Scottsdale Road, from Thompson Peak Parkway to Pinnacle Peak Road. Design concepts have been completed for the corridor and improvements include widening Scottsdale Road from four to six lanes (from Thompson Peak Parkway to Pinnacle Peak Road), bike lanes, landscaped raised center medians, drainage improvements, underground utilities, sidewalks, a multi-use trail, new street lights and public art, and implementation of the Scottsdale Streetscape Guidelines.
Why are these improvements necessary?
These improvements are important to the future growth of the northern corridor of Scottsdale Road, and also to address drainage issues in the area.
What will the improvements look like?
The improvements will follow the Scottsdale Road Streetscape Guidelines for Segment 5, the Northern Corridor.
How is the project funded?
The project is primarily funded with Proposition 400 funds. Approved by voters county-wide in November of 2004 to extend a half-cent sales tax to fund major transportation projects throughout Maricopa County, these projects include improvements to freeways and other highways in the state highway system, as well as major arterial streets and intersection improvements. Proposition 400 also funds construction, maintenance and operation of public transit facilities and services. Other funding sources include Bond 2000 Funds, and Transportation Sales Tax.
When will the project be built?
