Waterline and Sewerline Construction Underway

This spring and summer the City of Scottsdale will be constructing a series of upgrades to the existing sewer collection and water distribution systems in the downtown area. Construction began April 11 and will occur in phases through October.  Please take time to review the detailed construction sequence and construction schedule.

We know that any construction activity near your home or business is an inconvenience.   Last winter we worked with business owners and residents in the downtown area to develop a construction plan and the overall sequence of the work in hopes of minimizing the impact of construction on homes and businesses.

Throughout construction, access to all homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.  There are no planed interruptions to water or sewer services as part of this project.

To address growth in the downtown area, the City completed its Integrated Water and Wastewater Master Plans (IWWMP) in March 2008.  This project will implement the critical improvements recommended in the 2008 Master Plan and will include the construction of the following:

  • 24-inch water main along Scottsdale Road between Indian School Road and Osborn Road

  • 16-inch water main along 2nd Street between Scottsdale Road and 68th Street
  • 12-inch water main on 69th Street, Goldwater Boulevard and Marshall Way
  • 12-inch water main along 4th, 6th and 70th streets between 69th Street and Osborn Road
  • 12-inch water main along Osborn Road between Scottsdale Road and Miller Road
  • 12-inch sewer main along Marshall Way between 2nd Street and Osborn Road

Thank you in advance for your patience during construction this spring and summer.  We look forward to working with you to improve our city’s infrastructure and create a vibrant downtown.
